Watamu Kitesurfing Camp
Its that time of year again, time to get stoked for another Watamu Kitesurfing Camp. These camps are aimed at getting kite surfers together in a group to explore, improve and have a good time out on the water. Hosted in Watamu we will explore the nearby coastline by offering a number of down winders and excursions throughout the week.
This time around we are partnering up with Cross Kite Holidays, who specialise in good living kitesurfing holidays, they can put on a range of yoga sessions and exercise routines for you over the course of the kite camp. These sessions are completely optional so if its a week of partying and kitesurfing you are looking for then this can also be catered for.
Whatever it is you are looking to get out of the week, individual rider improvement is a large focus. If it is learning the latest trick you have been struggling with or just improving your transitions and carves, our coaches Ben and Tessy will be on hand on a daily basis. Ben has 15 years of experience teaching kitesurfing, has trained as an examiner with the British Kite Sports Association and has run numerous kitesurfing trips worldwide. Tessy is the owner of Cross Kite and has vast experience in running Kitesurfing holidays globally. Ben and Tessy will be 100% focused on the group during the duration of the camp and will provide coaching on and off the water, be it from our safety craft, by kite or video review with a beer in the evening.
Accommodation is provided at Mwamba Lodge located directly on the beach right at Watamu’s best kite spot. On site beach assistant staff will be able to help you get set up on a daily basis so you can wake up have a dip in the Indian Ocean and your kite will be ready for you to get out and ride.
The trip will also include a range of down winders, first off a nice and simple one early in the week down the coast line of Watamu. This will help us gauge each riders level and give all the riders on the camp the opportunity to check out the different kiting spots along the Watamu beach. The main down winder will be a surprise to those that have not done a trip with us before and we prefer to keep it that way, trust us its awesome!!!!
Equipment is available to rent and we have a full range of Slingshot equipment for those who would rather not bring their own kit. We are also able to source Slingshot kit so if you are interested in buying new kit for your holiday we can have it here waiting for you when you arrive. We are offering a 20% discount off RRP on all Slingshot gear to those that sign up to the trip.
In addition to kitesurfing there will be options to do other activities whilst you are in Watamu. We will be including a trip out on a authentic Swahili dhow into Mida Creek to watch the sunset and enjoy a few Dawas. Other thing to get up to include a trip to our local Turtle Watch program where you can release injured turtles back into their natural habitat and see the good work that the Local Ocean Trust does maintaining our beautiful beach. We also have a very professional Snake Park called Bio Ken. This is a great way to see the vast number of reptiles in our area.
For those who may be joining us from abroad there is an option to extend the trip and add a safari to the end of your kitesurfing holiday. This will be at an extra cost, but a one night or two night safari can be organised on your behalf by us here at Tribe for a very good price.
